Karawan,2016
In 2016, I received the Van Vlissingen Art Foundation prize, which enabled me to create Karawan, a series inspired by a journey through Morocco. From the vibrant chaos of its cities to the vast stillness of the Sahara, I encountered a world of contrasts—between urban energy and remote landscapes, between my own artistic process and the cultural dynamics of my subjects.
Translating these impressions into my work, I photographed models of Moroccan descent in traditional attire, blending portraiture, landscape, and still life into a cohesive visual narrative. Karawan captures Morocco as I experienced it—a land of intense heat, soaring mountains, and captivating faces, all rendered in my signature monochrome style.
